After graduation, he accepted a job in the Grand Rapids area. This is when he began to fall in love with West Michigan. After working in the area for several years he decided this is where he wanted to plant roots and start his family. He opened Northland Animal Hospital in April of 2001. His goal was to run a hospital based on quality medicine, client education, and excellent customer service. After all these years he believes Northland sets the standards in all of these areas.

Outside of medicine he enjoys time with his wife Dana, daughter Hope, and son Foster. Camping, boating, and travel are favorite family activities. He shares his life with two cats, Wally and Mandie, as well as three dogs, Gonzo and Lucky (the rescues) and Bella, a goofy Golden Retriever and the first puppy in the Banks’ home in 20 years.
